I was born a Montessori child, in Austin, Texas. I attended Austin Montessori School; memories include lots of painting, metal insets, the little wicker basket with a cloth napkin-cover that I carried my lunch in, eating outside with my friends in elementary and the excitement of when the school got a bus. A real yellow schoolbus, with our name on it!
I was a ballet dancer and when I stopped dancing, I knew I needed something else in my life in which I could experience a similar depth of passion. My mom was a Children's House guide for many, many years and a parent educator and consultant to other guides and schools. She sure loved her work! And, as an adolescent I became very aware of how our family was different from some others. I thought learning more about why our family was different - why my parents had created the kind of home life we had - would be interesting and was related to this great passion I saw Mom involved with, daily.
Well, I was hooked immediately! I studied with Joen Bettmann in the beautiful, old mansion in Cleveland, former site of the Ohio Montessori Training Institute. Those studies lead me to Judi Orion and Chacha Vidales in Denver, for the Assistants to Infancy training and the rest is history.
Here, and now, I love working with children and I love working with their parents. Come and find me!
